Stanserhorn by Cabrio: Mountain Adventure in Switzerland

Stanserhorn Cabrio cable car arriving with alpine views

Took the trip up the Stanserhorn today, and the Cabrio cable car is something else. World’s first open-top, double-deck cable car, and standing on the upper deck with nothing but air and the Alps around you is seriously impressive engineering. You really feel the tech when you’re up there.

Valley and Lake Lucerne view from the ascent
The view unfolds as you climb: Lake Lucerne and the valleys spread out below.

A short hike from the top station brought us to the summit, and every step offers a new angle on the landscape. The weather was on our side, so the clarity was perfect.

Mountain landscape during the ascent
The constantly changing vistas during the climb—forest and alpine meadows layered below.
Alpine view with water reflections
Glimpses of the water catching the light as the altitude increases.

From the summit, the view is just massive—Lake Lucerne stretching out below and the snow-capped peaks lined up across the horizon. This is what you come for.

Summit panorama of the Alps
The panorama from the top—everything you imagined it would be.

Plenty of traffic on the roads getting there, but the weather couldn’t have been better. Roof off, and just enjoy the ride down. This is exactly the kind of mountain adventure Switzerland is famous for. If you’re looking for other great outings, check out the snowy drive to Bergwelten Salwideli for a more rugged mountain experience, or grab some camp cooking tips for field lunch.
